Gossip Girl's Carnal Knowledge

I find the turn of events of this episode disheartening particularly the ending. However I still love Blair: her spunk, her fashion sense, her unwavering guts and courage though I must admit she went overboard with her act against Rachel. She's definitely lucky to have a number of people supporting her Yale dream, which includes her Daddy and Lily, even though some have ditched her. She got luckier when the rumor she started was to be proven by Serena unexpectedly. But rumors won't stick as rumors if they don't have some element of truth. It turns out that Serena will be heading on a greater disappointment and heartache once the beans are spilled and a growing affair between her ex-boyfriend Dan and former infamous English teacher Rachel are made known.

I think it takes being a girl to know by gut feeling when there is an attraction going on between two people you know quite well or even those you aren't exactly brushing elbows with. Though both Rachel and Dan would naturally deny, but it's very clear even at the start that they unspokenly like each other. It isn't hard for a Queen-bee to notice that. Likewise, it is hard for Serena to give Dan the benefit of the doubt after seeing Dan and Rachel hanging out together for some occasions. Some gut feeling, don't you agree?


This unspoken attraction was eventually admitted by Rachel herself just seconds before Serena spotted them together by saying, " Call me after five years." This was her reply when Dan asked her whether she will never consider a teacher-student relationship. For a teacher to say that on a minor whom she knows is dating her friend Serena, seriously it's simply distasteful!

Blair should give herself a toast for that victory- for Constance, for Yale, and for winning that battle against Rachel. But we very well know that victory is not meant to last long since Rachel is not actually fired. When Rachel is back, Rachel will certainly ask for an eye for an eye and might declare a third war.
