Curtis Painter, the New Quarterback of Indianapolis Colts

Curtis Painter, a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, has been drafted in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Curtis Painter, a member of the Purdue Boilermakers football team, used to play for Purdue University in July 2003. Painter played under head coach Joe Tiller. However, after redshirting in 2004, Painter played as a backed up of starting quarterback Brandon Kirsch for the first six games of the 2005 season. Later on, Curtis Painter replaced Kirsch as the starter for the last five games of the season.


On 2005 season, Painter finished 89 of 170 passes, for 932 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions and became Boiler’s starting quarterback indefinitely just after Kirsch left a year early of eligibility.


Indianapolis Colts drafted Curtis Painter in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Behind starting quarterback Peyton Manning, Painter was a reserve together with Jim Sorgi. Painter then was the second-string quarterback in December 2009 after Sorgi was on injured reserve and Drew Willy was the second back-up.


On Dec. 27, 2009, Painter made his debut on December 27, 2009, against the New York Jets, throwing an interception and losing a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Ever since then, Curtis Painter has made a legion of fans.
