Lake Champlain Bridge Falling Down

Controlled explosions toppled down the Lake Champlain Bridge between New York and Vermont. You can watch live telecast of Lake Champlain Bridge demolition at WCAX Channel 3.

Snow fell while some people watched the falling debris of the Champlain Bridge between Crown Point, N.Y., and Addison, Vt.,into the water and ice at south end of the lake this Monday morning. A sharp jolt occurred that was followed by puffing smoke as steel and concrete fell.

Champlain bridge was closed on Oct. 16 when engineers noted the bridge was unsafe due to severe erosion of its concrete piers.

Idaho-based Advanced Explosives Demolition conducted the controlled explosion. Debris of the fallen Champlain Bridge will be taken off by spring time as soon as the construction is set.
