President Barack Obama continues the tradition of every US president since Calvin Coolidge by heading the lighting ceremony of the National Christmas tree.
Obama is assisted by First lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia with this yearly ceremony this Thursday, as they helped Obama press a button and light the 40-foot Colorado blue spruce growing on the Ellipse, south of the White House.
