At the Christmas mass held in St. Peter’s Basilica on Thursday, a woman jumped the barricade and knocked down the pope. Pope Benedict fell to the ground.
The pope was helped to his feet and immediately stood up. According to Father Federico Lombardi, the pope was unharmed and he continued the Christmas service, according to Father Federico Lombardi. The woman who knocked down the pope was rushed to the hospital.
Father Lombardi also said the woman appeared to be “unstable.” She was arrested by Vatican security.
