February 12, 1945 to December 8, 2009 Perry has long credited his mother as partial inspiration for the Madea character, telling the Atlanta Journal-Constitution back in 2006, “My mother is the wisdom of Madea.” Thank you for all your prayers.

A few days ago Perry directed his fans from his Facebook and Twitter towards an email he wrote asking them to pray for his ailing mother. His mother had been sick since August.

Maxine Perry was a preschool teacher spent most of her life working in the New Orleans Jewish Community Center most of her life.
