Kennedy Center Honorees | Glamorous Updates




CBS aired the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony that took place on Sunday, December 6th, 2009. Caroline Kennedy was the host for the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony for the seventh time around.



The honorees for this year are (this list is via amr2you.blogspot.com):


Mel Brooks, Dave Brubeck, Grace Bumbry, Robert De Niro, and Bruce Springsteen. With President Obama and Vice President Biden in attendance and performances delivered by many artists including; Jack Black, Matthew Broderick, Harry Connick, Jr., Melissa Etheridge, Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, Ben Harper, Harvey Keitel, Frank Langella, John Mellencamp, Edward Norton, Carl Reiner, Martin Scorsese, Martin Short, Jon Stewart, Ben Stiller, Sting, Sharon Stone, Meryl Streep, and Eddie Vedder, the roster represents a nice little variety of talent. This yearly event recognizes recipients for their lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts in dance, music, theater, opera, motion pictures and television.


Dave Brubeck, has composed a number of jazz standards: " The Duke, "Take Five", "In and Your Own Sweet Way" to name a few. Brubeck's style varies either from refined to wild.


Bruce Springsteen, now 60, is one of the top stars of the century. Bruce Springsteen leads the band: Bruce & The E Street Band still performs in sold-out arenas all throughout the world.


Mel Brooks, on the other hand won an award on best original screenplay. Mel Brooks has made the film transformed into a hit Broadway show.


Grace Bumery sang in church choirs and was fascinated with singing as a child. She later entered Northwestern University and studied voice. Grace Bumery then pursued further singing lessons in Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California. With her untiring efforts, Bumery was joint winner of the Metropolitan Opera in 1958.
