From a Looking Glass

Life is a series of detachments that would either make or unmake us. These are detachments from old habits, lifestyles, dreams/goals, ideals or principles that no longer work for us. It could be a detachment from a job that we all work hard for, or a detachment from a relationship with old and new friend/s, a family member who has passed away, or a loved-one we can never, ever forget.

It means a detachment from anything which we always instinctively consider as the "glorious past". For no matter how we lay down our cards to bring it back,it just isn't possible. Often times we blame ourselves. "Where did I go wrong? I should have done better. I shouldn't have said that."

We blame ourselves perpetually for a single lapse. A child rebels. A parent fails his/her child. A woman turns down a suitor who could have been Mr.Right. A lover loses a lady who could have been the right one. A worker screws up when he/she is so close to that promotion. Or an employer fails his employees. Either way, when we strike, oftentimes we miss the bull's eye.

We all make mistakes and a lot more mistakes. We may hibernate for a while as we mourn/grieve for the loss. But that can't go on. For every mistake, there is redemption. We learn. If not, we are forced to learn and realize to make the most of what we have.
